Unless I'm bringing squadrons, though, Jerry has done a lot more for me than Piett in that fleet, unfortunately (for Piett).I think the thing being missed from Piett vs Thrawn is that Piett is FLEXIBLE, whereas Thrawn you are locked in before the game begins. Which means at least an ISD... or the new SSD. You're spending 29 points on just commander and officer to make that work. No problem, you can do that. If you expect the other guy is going to be able to put a dent in your squadrons, you're not going to choose all squadron dials when it's time to choose your Thrawn dials.What do you think about Piett + Beck combo, on say a Raider, Glad or Kittens?

Admiral Piett (W8, Commander, 22 pts): Piett is a commander many people have been wanting for some time, and now that we get the Executor he has finally arrived. We don't have a good image of the card yet, hence the SWCCG card show. There is no planning required or any range limitation. That could be handy for keeping itself and another ship alive while using its Command dial to do something else (after turn 1).You only get 5 repair points doing it that way, so you'd be able to send 2 shields over and then bring back 1 (and move another).

Slap Piett on a Dictor and you can use him TWICE per round. Piett fits really well here, but don't discount the carrier ISD-I either, which is almost the same but costs half. Eh, tough, Thrawn just sitting on nav commands. For ships with large command stacks, that can save the day.That's true, but it's still only one ship. Anyway. He's mini in that he can do this only ONCE per round, since his ability is an exhaust (making him the first Exhaust admiral in Armada). With Piett, especially with Hondo, you have a chance to get an instant-dial of whatever you need at that moment. A commander is a special type of upgrade card with the icon on its card back and no upgrade icon in the lower-left corner of the card front.. A commander can be equipped to any ship except Flotillas (FAQ Version 3.2.1; 2017/06/26); A fleet cannot have more than one commander. And no, you can't take an extra copy of the same dial you revealed for that ship, BECAUSE THERE IS NO RULE FOR RESOLVING TWO IDENTICAL DIALS!!! You need to make your SSD both Nav and Squad? This meshes nicely for Piett. Furthermore, you can prepare for game events by not choosing all the same dial for thrawn. He can turn any token into a dial at a moment's notice. That limitation means you want to use him on your biggest, baddest ship. If you really want repairing like crazy on crucial turns for your fleet, you might as well use Thrawn set to repair dials so your other ships get free repair dials as well.Darn that math. There is one final consideration for Piett: He's an exhaust.
The point is Interdictor. I think those same people wanted him to be like an Imperial Ackbar that added a fistful of red dice out the front, while denying you the right to shoot out the ass.
So to get the full 6, you'd have to spend the dial and token, which, as you said, doesn't require Piett. SSD reveals a Squad dial, gets a squad token, throws 6 squads in your face, then later Piett turns Nav/Eng/CF token into a dial, giving you max return on your 220+upgrades investment.
