The Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department is working with organizers of the Ozaukee County Fair, which is still scheduled for July 29-Aug. 2.The health department does not recommend mass gatherings at this time, but if the fair is held, health department director Kirsten Johnson said they would like to work with the organizers to make it as safe as possible.The fair organizers plan to provide additional hand-washing stations, sanitize common surfaces, stop serving beer at 10 p.m. and limit grandstand seating to 50% of capacity. "That would be a good day for us anyway on any given year," said Mark Larson, president of the Ozaukee County Agricultural Society.Larson told the Ozaukee County Board on July 1 that he doesn't expect a large attendance at this year's fair, because the board of directors does not plan to advertise beyond its website or social media page.Although many county fairs have been canceled — including Washington County's — Ozaukee County is not alone in forging ahead with its fair.
