However, Sarah Posner’s new book, What I particularly appreciate about Posner’s book is the fact that she gives the deep histories that are necessary for understanding the particular form that white evangelicalism has taken in latter half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. It threatens to shut off all federal funding for the entire state if someone complains about hearing the word abortion, for example. Posner succeeds in proving the subtitle of her book. In reading the book, I learned a lot about white Christian Evangelicals, who like to put for the idea that they are truly Christ-like and part of the “chosen” group, while the rest of are left out as possible “wanna-be’s”. It likely won’t change any priors, but it does illuminate some of the nastier and more shadowy of the hucksters surrounding the current president and their forbearers. I voted for Hillary.
